KINABUTI SPEAKS AT ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION AT THE SUSTAINABLE ECONOMY FORUM ITALY
Kinabuti was invited to speak on a round table discussion at the first edition of the Sustainable Economy Forum . This was a two day discussion with entrepreneurs, economists, policy-makers, intellectuals, researchers, artists and social players of Italian and the international civil society.
This conference was launched by the San Patrignano Community and Confindustria. It had key industry players proffer long term solutions to the most pressing global issues.
The Kinabuti presentation focused on the recently launched Urban Fashion Lab project. This project aims at transforming informal economies into organized formal economies.
The Urban Fashion Lab is an incubator for the creation and development of micro entrepreneurship in Nigeria. It's focus is on youths being able to grasp the opportunities offered by the growing and evolving Nigerian fashion industry.
The project involves collaborations with institutions and local organizations of vulnerable women. It also involves designers, fashion
brands, hospitality and retail brands representing local demand. By training qualified young graduates to become Micro Entrepreneurs, Kinabuti will create a new model of sustainable and inclusive economy. "Kinabuti's sustainable and inclusive economic development goal is to train 460 beneficiaries to generate over 80 small enterprises." said Francesca Rosset, Co Founder of Kinabuti.
According to her, this would in turn, transform more informal
economies into organized formal economies. Also present at the debate was Giuseppe Miroglio, Chairman of Miroglio Group; Gabriele Moratti, Founder andCreative Director of Redemption; Claire Swift, Director of Social Responsibility, University of the Arts London – London College of Fashion; and, Veronica Tonini, Risk Management & Group Compliance Director and,Group CSR Coordinator of Salvatore Ferragamo.
