The Kinabuti Family would love to thank all donors, volunteers and sponsors for their generous contributions to the 6th Christmas party themed: "1,000 Gifts For Kids At Orile" organized by The Kinabuti Team And Friends. With the funds raised in previous years a number of well needed improvements have been made to the school including new doors, bathrooms and windows have been built for the school. We would also like to say a special thanks to Pepsi Nigeria who have generously supported the cause throughout the year as well as Oasis Med Spa and other silent donors. Without the support of these organizations the schools of Coker and Iganmu community, and their 6 Nursery and Primary Schools that cater for around 1,000 children, would not have benefitted from these refurbishments. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our volunteers, donors and sponsors and the long lasting collaboration with OIPA, Orile Iganmu Progressive Association, that welcomed us in Orile since 2011.
On the 8th of December 2017, the annual Christmas party at Orile, a low-income community in the heart of Lagos, will take place hosting one thousand children who will go home with beautiful gifts donated by SPAR, Dana Plastic, Pepsi, Vital, Colombina, Sarsoli, La Taverna, Wilson Lemonade, Polyproducts and Sympli. It promises to be a wonderful celebration full of educative and entertaining activities brought to the kids by the Eko Samba Community, WeCyclers, Maje and his HIIT, the Vama Wave Foundation, Lantern, the students of Unilag and Ghettit Edutainment.
The Eko Samba community is a non profit organisation working to engage and empower children and young people through creative arts, specifically Afro-Brazilian drumming with their projects based in the low-income, inner city are of Ijegun-Egba, Satellite Town, Lagos. At the Christmas party, the Eko Samba Community will be bringing some of their magic drums to the kids of the school and teaching the kids how to play them.
WeCyclers is a for profit social enterprise that promotes environmental sustainability, socio economic development and community health by providing convenient recycling services in densely populated urban neighborhoods. They will be bringing the knowledge of recycling and its societal benefits to the kids of Coker School in a fun, exciting and educative way!
That is not all! There will also be other entertaining activities brought to the kids courtesy of Lantern, the leading publishers of children's book in Nigeria; Fitness expert, Maje Ayida and the HIIT squad; and Vama Wave Foundation, a non-profit organization led by a team of Indian ladies, with a vision to supporting charity based projects in Nigeria. What's more? The Vama Wave Foundation will be building a big inflatable bouncing castle for the children to play in!
A very big thank you to all sponsors for making this a reality. We at Kinabuti most certainly can't wait for the 8th December 2017. It is going to be an unforgettable day with Father Christmas, food, fun and entertainment that will leave smiles not just on the faces of the children but also on the faces of the organizers, volunteers and sponsors.
The activities on the day will also serve to remind all of us that giving is not just the spirit of Christmas but one of the most beautiful and fulfilling things that we can incorporate in to our daily lives.
